Chauffeur Tipping Guide for NYC

Standard NYC chauffeur tip is 18-20% of the fare. Noble Black Car Service flat rates already include standard gratuity (18%) for online reservations — meaning the price you see at booking is the price you pay, no additional tip required. Cash gratuity above the standard is welcome but not expected.

Standard Tip Amounts

• Routine airport transfer — 18-20% included in flat rate
• Multi-stop hourly day — 18-20% included; cash $10-50 for excellent service welcome
• Wedding-day full coverage — 20% included; cash $50-100 for the chauffeur after the night ends is appreciated
• Late-night dispatch — same flat rate, no late-night surcharge; tip already included
• Heavy luggage / extraordinary request — $10-20 cash for additional handling is appropriate

When to Add Extra

Cash on top of the included gratuity is appropriate for: chauffeur waiting longer than the booked time without complaint, helping with extra luggage / oversize bags, exceptional driving in difficult conditions (severe weather, traffic), helping coordinate multiple stops or last-minute itinerary changes, going above-and-beyond with hospitality (water, opening doors, light coordination with venue staff).

When NOT to Tip Extra

For routine, on-time transfers with no special service, the included 18% gratuity is fully sufficient. Chauffeurs do not expect cash on top for a standard $165 JFK transfer. The flat rate model is designed to remove tipping anxiety entirely.
